A Cinematic Glimpse Inside The Seelbach Hotel — Where Timeless Meets the Roaring Twenties
The bride and groom stand on the grand staircase of The Seelbach Hotel. A timeless, and cinematic moment surrounded by ornate gold detailing and historic elegance.
There’s something magnetic about places with history. The kind of spaces that whisper stories the moment you walk through the door. the Seelbach Hotel in downtown Louisville is one of those places. Every inch of its marble floors, golden detailing, and grand staircases feels like stepping into a different era. And this wedding? It fit the space perfectly.
This wedding brought me from Dayton, Ohio down to the historic hotel in Louisville, and as soon as I arrived, I knew this was going to be special. The bride’s gown, with its structured satin bodice and delicate bow, looked as if it were made for this hotel. Romantic and refined with a touch of Old Hollywood. Paired with her vintage veil and gloves, she could’ve walked straight out of a 1920s film reel. Her groom’s classic black suit and soft expression balanced it all beautifully; timeless meets cinematic.
We spent the first part of the day exploring the hotel’s architecture; from it’s winding staircases and gilded ceilings to the quiet corners filled with warm light and rich textures. Every turn of the hallway felt like discovering a new movie set. I aimed to document it as it truly felt: unposed, emotive, a blend of art and honesty.
Later, their celebration continued in The Rathskeller. The Seelbach’s famous underground ballroom and one of the last surviving Rookwood Pottery rooms in the world. Built in 1907, it’s said to have hosted secret Prohibition-era parties and even welcomed guests like Al Capone. Every inch of the space feels steeped in history. From the emerald and gold tilework to the hand-carved cherubs watching over the room. With candlelight flickering off the glossy Rookwood tiles and the hum of quiet conversation echoing beaneath the vaulted arches, the entire scene felt alive, like a hidden chapter of the 1920s unfolding all over again.

This day reminded me why I love what I do. Freezing fleeting, cinematic moments that feel like you’re standing right there: breathing in the atmosphere, hearing soft jazz drift through the room, and witnessing two souls completely lost in their own world
If you’ve ever dreamed of a wedding that feels both luxurious and deeply personal, something straight out of the Roaring Twenties, The Seelbach Hotel brings that dream to life.
